0.4kV low voltage distribution system reactive power compensation device
Jun 07, 2025| With the increasing scarcity of global energy resources, energy conservation and reduction of energy consumption have drawn increasing attention from people all over the world. Reactive power compensation devices, as an important form of energy conservation with low investment and quick results, have become particularly significant. Their significance mainly lies in the following aspects:
1. Improve power factor, avoid fines, reduce electricity expenses of industrial and mining enterprises and institutions, and lower production costs;
2. Reduce current loss in electrical equipment, save electricity;
3. Can lower voltage loss in the power system, reduce voltage fluctuations, and improve power quality;
4. Increase the utilization rate of transformers and power grids, save the construction investment of electrical equipment, and tap the potential of existing electrical equipment.

At present, reactive power compensation in the 0.4kV distribution system is mainly achieved through low-voltage parallel capacitor cabinets and SVG (Static Var Generator) static reactive power generators. Sometimes, both of these methods are used simultaneously, which is known as a mixed compensation method. The 0.4kV capacitor is an important component in the low-voltage power distribution system. In the low-voltage power grid, it mainly serves to compensate for reactive power loss, improve power quality, and increase power factor. Since inductive loads require a large power to establish a magnetic field, this will reduce the power factor. Therefore, reactive power compensation is necessary.
