(1) Incorrect setting of switching mode
There are two switching methods for power capacitors when performing switching for compensation: manual switching and automatic switching. If during the operation of the compensation cabinet, the switching mode is set to manual switching, then regardless of how the power factor changes, the capacitor cannot be automatically switched on. Changing to the automatic switching mode will solve the problem.

(2) Excessive threshold for input
When setting the parameters of the reactive power compensation controller, the input threshold for capacitors can be adjusted according to the changes in the power factor of the power system. For example, if the input threshold is set at 0.85, the capacitors will be automatically engaged for compensation when the system's power factor drops to 0.85. If the input threshold is set too high, it will prevent the automatic engagement of the power capacitors.

(3) Harmonic Impact
When harmonics exist in the environment where the power capacitor operates, they will interfere with the control system of the compensation cabinet, causing the reactive power compensation controller to fail to function properly and preventing the capacitor from being automatically engaged.

(4) Switch failure
When the switching device in the compensation cabinet malfunctions, it will also prevent the capacitors from being automatically switched on.

(5) Capacitor failure
When the capacitor itself fails or is directly damaged for some reason, the reactive power compensation controller cannot detect its current signal, which also affects the automatic activation of the capacitor.

(6) Error in current transformer sampling
The current transformers in the compensation cabinet sample the current in the circuit. The controller analyzes the reactive power demand of the circuit to control the switching of capacitors. If the sampled current is incorrect, it will directly affect the switching control of the controller, resulting in the inability of the power capacitor to be automatically engaged.
