The electricity saved by frequency conversion technology can reach over 30%, which is of considerable benefit. With the increasingly widespread popularity and application of frequency converters, their proportion in the total load of the power grid is also increasing. Among them, the majority are three-phase 380V AC-DC-AC type frequency converters (hereinafter referred to as frequency converters). However, the accompanying grid-side harmonic problems have also attracted more and more attention from users and the power supply department.

 

Harmonics can cause the reactive power compensation device to malfunction, and also lead to failures in some modern precision control machines. Even the equipment itself may also fail due to harmonic interference. Therefore, effective control measures must be taken for systems using frequency converters. Considering that the load of the frequency converter is stable and so is the harmonic, the requirements for reactive power compensation and harmonic control are not high. Generally, whether it is a high-voltage frequency converter or a low-voltage frequency converter, compensation can be carried out on the high-voltage side, or compensation and control can be carried out simultaneously on both the high and low-voltage sides. This approach can save several times the cost of full low-voltage compensation.
