Power quality refers to the quality of electric energy in the power system. Ideal electric energy should be a perfectly symmetrical sine wave, but due to various factors, the waveform of electric energy will deviate from the symmetrical sine wave, resulting in power quality problems. Voltage quality is the main part of power quality, including indicators such as voltage deviation, voltage imbalance, voltage fluctuation and voltage flicker. Frequency quality involves the deviation of power supply frequency, while waveform quality focuses on whether the waveform of electric energy is distorted.

The main influencing factors of power quality problems include voltage sag, swell and short-term interruption. In order to improve power quality, methods such as extraction and control strategies of disturbance signals can be adopted. In addition, power quality also includes other aspects, such as three-phase imbalance, temporary or transient overvoltage, harmonics, etc.
