Why low-voltage current transformers should be installed in low-voltage distribution cabinets?

May 06, 2025|

1, transformer converts large current in power grid to the safety smaller current. Based on the principle of transformers, transformer can convert high currents into secondary currents proportionally and is used in measurement, monitoring and control systems.

2. The primary coil of the transformer is insulated from the high-voltage main circuit of the power system, which can ensure the safety of personnel and equipment. The secondary current is output by the transformer and is completely isolated from the primary circuit, avoiding the direct impact of the power system on the measurement, protection equipment or other loads.

Generally speaking, the transformer should be maintain in every two years, but it depends on the actual situation, the secondary line of a current transformer must be grounded, an open circuit (broken line) in the secondary line is extremely dangerous.

3. Low-voltage current transformer is an important electrical components in low-voltage distribution cabinets. To monitor electrical parameters such as current and power in each outgoing circuit within the switch cabinet, distribution circuits are generally equipped with electrical measuring instruments. Due to the large load current, it cannot be directly connected to the measuring instrument. It is necessary to use a low-voltage current transformer to convert the large current in the main circuit into a small current according to the standard ratio, and then connect it to the measuring instrument.
