In actual use, the windings of the filtering reactor are prone to various faults, such as burning out. If a fault occurs, it will affect the use and performance of the reactor, and in more serious cases, it will also affect the production efficiency and electrical safety of the users. So, what are the causes of the burning out of the windings of the filtering reactor?

 

The following are the common causes for the burnout of the windings of the filtering reactor:

1. Overcurrent

Harmonic current: Harmonics in the power system can cause the current through the reactor to increase beyond the rated value, leading to overheating.
Short-circuit fault: When the system experiences a short circuit, the reactor may be subjected to an excessively high current, causing the windings to burn out.

2. Overheating

Poor heat dissipation: Poor ventilation or malfunction of the cooling system can cause the transformer to overheat.
Long-term overload: Continuous overload operation will cause the winding temperature to accumulate, eventually leading to damage.

3. Insulation aging

Long-term operation: The insulating material ages over time, resulting in a decrease in its withstand voltage capacity, which may lead to local discharge or short circuit.
Environmental factors: High temperatures and humidity can accelerate the aging of insulation.

4. Design or manufacturing defects

Material issue: Using substandard wires or insulating materials may cause local overheating or insulation breakdown.
Process issue: During the manufacturing process, if the windings are not evenly distributed or the insulation treatment is improper, it may cause local discharge or short circuit.

5. External Factors

Overvoltage: Lightning strikes or operational overvoltage may cause insulation to break down, resulting in damage to the windings.
Mechanical vibration: Long-term vibration may cause the windings to loosen or the insulation to wear out, leading to a short circuit.

6. Poor maintenance

Lack of regular inspections: Failure to promptly identify issues such as loose windings and aging insulation can lead to faults.
Insufficient cleaning: Accumulation of dust or foreign substances hinders heat dissipation, resulting in overheating.
