Low Voltage Power Factor Correction (PFC) Panel
Low Voltage Power Factor Correction (PFC) Panel effectively improves your power factor, reduces line power loss, and maximizes transformer capacity
- Product Introduction
Products Description
Designed for 380V/400V low-voltage distribution systems, this Low Voltage Power Factor Correction (PFC) Panel provides an effective solution for improving power factor and optimizing electrical system performance. By compensating for reactive power demand,Low Voltage Power Factor Correction (PFC) Panel helps reduce current flowing through cables and transformers, minimize associated power losses, and release electrical capacity for additional loads.
Main Components
Main components of Low Voltage Power Factor Correction (PFC) Panel

1
Capacitor Banks
Supply capacitive reactive power to compensate for inductive loads, such as motors and transformers, thereby improving the system power factor.

2
Intelligent Controller
Continuously monitors the system power factor and reactive power demand, automatically switching capacitor stages to maintain the preset power factor target, typically around 0.95 or as required by the application.

3
Detuned Reactors
Connected in series with capacitor banks to reduce the risk of harmonic resonance and limit harmonic currents flowing into the capacitors. Common reactance rates include 6%, 7%, and 14%, selected according to the system's harmonic characteristics and design requirements.

4
Protection Devices
Fuses and circuit breakers provide protection against short circuits and overcurrent. Additional protective devices, such as overvoltage, undervoltage, and temperature protection, help safeguard the system against abnormal operating conditions.

5
Enclosure & Cooling System
An IP30-rated enclosure provides protection against access to hazardous parts and solid objects larger than 2.5 mm. Built-in cooling fans help dissipate heat and maintain suitable operating temperatures.

6
Switching Devices
Switch capacitor banks on and off according to the controller's commands. The appropriate switching technology-such as contactors, thyristor switches, or hybrid switches-should be selected based on load characteristics and switching frequency.

Ambient Requirements
To ensure maximum lifespan and stable operation, please install Low Voltage Power Factor Correction (PFC) Panel under the following condition:
- Ambient Temperature: −5°C to +40°CRelative Humidity: ≤ 90% (at 20°C)Max Altitude: ≤ 2000 mEnvironment: Non-explosive, free from corrosive gases and conductive dust. Avoid severe vibration, rain, or snow.

Choose the Right Compensation Type
Standard Industrial Applications – TSC Thyristor-Switched Capacitor Cabinets:
A reliable and cost-effective solution for dynamic reactive power compensation. Thyristor switching enables fast capacitor bank switching without mechanical contact wear, making it suitable for industrial loads with frequent reactive power fluctuations.
High-Harmonic Applications – FC + Detuned Reactor Filter Cabinets:
Designed for electrical systems with significant harmonic distortion. The combination of fixed capacitor (FC) banks and detuned reactors helps reduce the risk of harmonic resonance and protects capacitor banks from excessive harmonic currents. Where required, dedicated harmonic filters can be designed according to the actual harmonic spectrum.
High-Precision Dynamic Applications – SVG + Capacitor Hybrid Compensation Cabinets:
Combining the high-capacity compensation of capacitor banks with the fast, continuously adjustable response of a Static Var Generator (SVG). This hybrid solution provides smooth reactive power regulation, rapid response to load fluctuations, and improved power factor control. It offers enhanced dynamic performance, with a higher initial investment than conventional capacitor-based solutions.
Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Root Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Capacitor Swelling / Explosion | System overvoltage, excessive harmonic distortion, or prolonged over-temperature operation. | Install series harmonic reactors; optimize cabinet ventilation and heat dissipation. |
| Controller Malfunction | Abnormal signal sampling or incorrect parameter settings. | Verify CT/PT wiring; recalibrate controller parameters. |
| Poor Compensation Performance | Inadequate total compensation capacity or frequent, rapid load fluctuations. | Upgrade overall compensation capacity; add dynamic compensation modules. |
Preventive Maintenance & Service Life
To ensure maximum lifespan and stable operation, we recommend the following maintenance practices:
Monthly Inspection:Clean internal dust and tighten all terminal connections.
Protection Check:Inspect all protection devices (fuses, breakers, relays) to ensure they are functioning properly.
Capacitance Testing:Regularly measure capacitance. Replace capacitors immediately if capacity degradation exceeds 10%.
Expected Service Life:Under normal operating conditions, the service life of our capacitors is approximately 5 to 10 years, depending on switching frequency and ambient temperature.
