  • Product Introduction

1kV 10kV 35kV indoor heat shrink termination kit refers to a complete cable termination assembly formed by using various components made of heat-shrinkable materials (such as radiation-cross-linked polyolefin), like tubes, branch-offs, and sheds.

These components are heated and shrunk to tightly wrap around the cable end and its connection point (to a switch or transformer terminal). This process restores insulation, provides sealing, offers mechanical protection, and improves electric field distribution. 

 

Main Components

 

● Stress Control Tube/Tape/Gel:It is used to dissipate the concentrated electrical stress at the cut-off point of the cable shield

● Heat-Shrink Insulation Tube:It is the core component ensuring electrical safety.

● Heat-Shrink Seal Tube:Used for the outermost sealing of the termination, preventing moisture ingress, and also for filling voids between cable cores.

● Heat-Shrink Breakout:Used for multi-core cables (e.g., three-core cables) to separate the individual cores and provide sealing for the cable body.

● Lug/Terminal:Crimped onto the cable conductor for connecting to the terminal stud of switchgear or transformers.

● Phase Identification Tube:Sleeved over each phase's insulation tube to identify phases A (Yellow), B (Green), and C (Red) for easy recognition.

Applications

 

Voltage Level: Commonly used for medium and low-voltage power cables, up to 35kV.

Environment: Specifically designed for indoor environments,

such as:

● Distribution rooms, switchgear stations

● Cable basements, cable floors in buildings

● Equipment connections within factory workshops

● Any indoor location not exposed to direct sunlight, rain, snow, or direct chemical corrosion.

Installation step

 

1. Preparation: Strip the cable's outer sheath, steel armor, inner sheath, and shield layer to expose a specified length of conductor.

Strictly follow the 2. stripping dimensions provided in the termination kit's installation manual.

3. Install Ground Wire: Fix the ground wire to the steel armor and copper shield.

4. Install Breakout: Slide the heat-shrink breakout onto the cable trifurcation area. Heat and shrink it from the center outwards until it tightly wraps the cable.

5. Install Stress Control Tube: This is a critical step. Slide the stress control tube over the cut-off point of the shield layer on each phase. Heat and shrink it.

6. Install Lug: Crimp the lug onto the cable conductor.

7. Install Insulation Tube: Slide the insulation tube over each core, covering the stress control tube and part of the original insulation. Heat and shrink it.

8. Install Seal Tube and Phase Tubes: Install the seal tube and phase identification tubes on the outermost layer to complete the sealing and identification.

9. Connect to Equipment: Secure the finished termination head to the terminal of the switchgear or transformer.
